Yoou know, the old timers would say its a sin to make an animal a canibal. Yes they will eat each other and yes we are squemish about this. But I think it's part of being prudent. Chickens ought not to be eating chicken. Those weird diseases are spread in weird ways. Why take the chance? Feed the leftovers to the dogs, make soup from the turkey carcass, and give anything else to your hens. Shoot, my hens eat undigested grain from the horse and cattle manure--its gross but there is no reason they shouldn't. There may be reasons not to feed them chicken. Don't get carried away with the urge to be thrifty.
