the eggs will be on there 18th day the31 and the31 is on a wednesday and i mite be at work shood i take eggs out of turner and put them on the wire mash that is in the hovabator model 1602 or just leaf in the turner i know to turn the turner off on the 27th just not shur what to do with the eggs

when you take the turner out ya can also put a paper towel down that will help with the birds small feet slipping through the wire ( i know the wire is small but there feet is small to )

just had to post again so i would not be stuck on post 666

When you unplug the turner wait til the eggs are as close to upright as you can get them, then leave the eggs in the turner and leave the turner unplugged--- just let it ride til hatch time. By leaving them in their upright possition you will get a much better hatch as some will drown lying on their sides--- keeping them upright will prevent this. I hatch thousands of eggs each year, many different speces including rare ornimental birds like lady amhurst pheasants.... Everything gets set up right during lockdown! Everything. Dont just take my word for it, do a byc search on this subject as it has been covered here before by more than 1 well accomplished breeder. So long as the turner is off (unplugged) there is no way for the lil fuzzballz to get hurt. Once the hatch is done take the turner apart and run it through the dish washer and reassemble--- now your ready for round 2!

Or if you like, when you go into lockdown disassemble the turner and take the racks out--- leave the eggs in the racks and just set the racks directly on the wire mesh floor of your bator/ hatcher...

Another good way is using the cardboard egg cartons for hatching racks--- just place the eggs in the cardboard lg end up and go into lockdown... Only problem here is that you may not have enough space in your bator for all the cardboard carton you'll need for 120 eggs???

I asked the same question...............and I took JJ's advice to the point that I just ordered an extra set of quail rails ($15 plus shipping) just for that "delivery-room" occasion.....LOL. Heck, I'm so addicted to this quail-raisin' stuff to the point where I'm willing to sacrifice some of the other everyday expenditures just to piggy bank a few $$ for occasions like this.

Ha! He's good!
I am going to leave mine in the racks this time, I didn't realize when pulling out the rails and the eggs rolled on their sides that the chicks would drown!
