I had a boyfriend once, a BOYFRIEND mind you, not even a husband, who gave me an iron and ironing board for my birthday. I was absolutely dumbfounded.

The year we got married my MIL gave me an iron and a crockpot. Jeez. Turns out Mr saddi told her i like "practical" gifts. However mr saddi would love a vaccumm for his birthday this year, he does all the cleaming anyway.

We have the purple Dyson. We scored big time, bought it used but brand new from a little old lady that said it was too heavy to push. I think we gave her $150 for it and all the attachments that had never been used. The vacuum didn't look like it was ever turned on.

I have an old Electrolux super J, it is the best vacuum in the world!! I can vacuum anything with it, it is kind of heavy but I won't use another vacuum.

Oh yeah, there's nothing like those old Electrolux and Kirby vacuums! Oh, and Rainbow... Rainbow vacuums are really, really good.

I have the Dyson Animal. LOVE IT. None of my inside animals shed, but I am a tiny bit of a clean freak...

I've actually heard that many refurbished products are better than buying new because they not only fix whatever was wrong with it, but the inspection process for the entire unit is MORE thorough than the original inspection when it's initially manufactured. Refurbished items get individual attention, so to speak, so everything is tip top shape. Plus, they almost always have a warranty. So I'm not afraid of refurbished anymore, and have never had a refurbished product fail. I have a refurbished camera, ipod, laptop, carpet cleaner, printer, and other things I'm sure that I can't think of now. I'd say Mahonri got a good deal no matter what!

Who cares if it is refurbished, they have fantastic customer service with a lifetime warranty. I had mine two years (DC-17 purple) and thought I got a dud, called the customer service line and she mailed me out new parts (entire new canister) to try to fix the filter issue, not just a new filter, now it works like new. Recently one of our kids decided to vacuum up a huge rubber piece that broke the belt, they sent me a new one for free.
