Can they cohabitate w chickens? Did I read they can live up to 17 years??![]()
I have 8 adults and recently had two keets that I will integrate pretty soon. I have mine for pest control. When we first moved here, I was doing tick checks on the kids twice a day and would find multiple ticks. After having the guineas free ranging, no more ticks! Literally. I haven't seen a tick in months.
I don't think they're great as guard birds because they tend to freak out about everyday things, so they're not very reliable at figuring out what is actually something to alert about or something they see all the time.
Right now I have mine all in the same coop as the chickens. I call them thugs, or the guinea gang, because they are mean to the chickens.
