Dont we have a fish guy/gal?

You did seed the second tank with bacteria? Generally used filter media, used gravel, or plants. I'm assuming you know about the nitrogen cycle, and how to cycle a new tank? Of course if you have an established tank than it's easier to get more going successfully.
Yes, I keep extra sponges in my filters that can be put into a different filter plus I steal plants and a little gravel.
What do you keep ?

Your welcome. :) Not too many people want to listen to my ramblings.

No need to suck on the tube to start a siphon. Submerge the tube underwater. Clear the line of all air so it's all water. Place thumbs over the one end, keep the other in the water, lift tube out on the thumb end, release your thumb when line is lower than the end in the tank and a siphon should start.
That's how I do it and if i am using a long line i fill it in the sink

It pumps air fine ! It wont pump even with a straight hose into the tank. I tried everything. Im missing something. I tried the check valve, the thing that comes with it that keeps it from back flowing . yes, both ways. LOL I tried stopping one side . with and w/o the stone. :idunno
I use a double line pump. I know when I do my water changes less water in one tank will affect the air flow I to others. Have you tried putting both lines into the same tank? I,think both sides need to have similar pressures to work, but I'm not sure. Some airstones need soaking before they start to work.

As far as fish? I have a 75, and a 125 with goldfish. I also have a 55 with tropicals, 6 angels, some black skirt and white tetra, some Cory cats, a few gouami, and an ancient yoyo poach. A survivor of 6 from back in 2004.

In goldfish I keep some single tailed ones, I think I have around 13, and some fancy varieties, also around 13 of them.

I also have a 29 gallon I occasionally fire up if I get a new batch of fish.

I was actually just trying that. 2 new same lengths of tube same I did get them to work but only if I pushed them to the side where they attach to the pump . Then one would work and one stop . Has to be just another defective pump. It also would only work if it was just in the water by an inch or so. Any deeper and it stops.

My goodness ! My flooring is pressed wood. If the 30 busts Im in deep doo-doo
A loach?

I haven't ever gotten a defective pump myself, but it's certainly possible. You checked the little felt filter on the bottom? Sometimes if they get took dirty they don't pump well.

For the most part air pumps are considered disposable, so I don't think you can repair one. It is frustrating when you want something to work but it won't.

Make sure you keep extra heaters on hand. Those are known to stop working after a while, so it pays to have spares on hand so you aren't running to get one at odd hours.

All my tanks are in my basement on a concrete floor, so no worries about weight or even a bit of water spilt. There are advantages to an unfinished basement.

There are different species of loaches. They are bottom dwellers. Yoyo loaches are busy fish. I feel bad because they also like company from their own kind, but I don't plan to keep them anymore. I bought them originally to get rid of a plague of snails I brought in on some plants, and could not get rid of. The loach did the job very quickly.
