Don't you think this is sort of mean? ***kind of icky picture***

I agree that factory farms are far from an optimal environment for chickens, and that having no feathers is far from an optimal state of being for a bird. At the same time, I admit that it is interesting to see a chicken sans feathers, as it goes to show how much of a difference the feathers really make. I also must give credit to those who were able to create a featherless chicken, whether or not I think it was a good idea.
 
pictures like that make me want to march into the farm, grab as many chickens as possible, and run for it... :hit
It is a very unfortunate living environment for those chickens. However, they were bred for meat and probably would have health problems if not culled relatively young. Everyone should have backyard chickens, and then these factories could be eliminated! This sounds easier than it would actually be.
