Door problems

Edit to add: or accept it won't last long and plan to replace early. It should last until spring if you can solve the predators.

Behr Barn and Fence paint needs 50F surface and air temps. :(

Possibly take the door off, let it warm up inside, paint it inside, put it back? Not ideal but maybe possible.

Or door flashing tape.
Or asphalt roofing caulk.

This would help with the cord. They make these that just keep them from pulling apart without protecting from water. I think some are weather proof.

I don't know how to fix it without more pictures.

Edit to add. Oh, I didn't realize the cord was just while you were working there.

No cord is to the coop heater since they are only 5 wks old...
I'll look into that!

It's closing against something...not sure what exactly ( could be the groove portion of the next piece that is tongue n groove like on the LP boards.
Looks like quite a gap in your first pic.
More pics of entire door, both open and closed, would help us help you.

The cord covers don't cost much but I still don't trust them.
I don't either, especially in that position(vertical).

Hopefully they won't need heat much longer at all. Northern Tennessee... Do you get snow there?

Just depends...every now and then. Getting in 30s at night right now...I weaned em down on the heat lamp and brooder plate in garage...they were using nothing and it was 50s in there before moving them out to new coop.

Definitely opening up to 2x4 framing which keeps the door from opening inward. The "gap" is ventilation with hardware cloth then a 2x4 underneath there as part of framin.
We got this done day before Christmas!
Need to finish trimming but if we don't get rain today I'm gonna try to paint!!!
We added a hinge as well as another latch. Hubby says raccoons don't like chicken...so no caribeaner yet ugh.
Forgot pic of inside with open door.
