Do's and dont's for a "living room" coop? Building housing indoors?

This sounds reasonable to me, I agree that it seems like they should have some outside time. My chicks were inside probably too long as we put up "their" yard outside (we are still working on their coop - they are using a dogloo as a temporary home in their yard!). Anyways, I started putting them outside during the day in a dog exercise pen that I had wrapped in hardware cloth and topped with poultry netting. It was easy to move around so they would have a fresh area to investigate. In the evening I brought them back in to their brooder. BUT, I did notice that once I started letting them have outside time, they were a little more wild when they were inside, they really wanted to be outside. And while I wouldn't keep one in the house as a "house chicken" (OMG my dogs would go NUTS!), I can see the attraction; my little Sebright rooster is absolutely adorable, and my one Dominique girl is positively cuddly! Having had parakeets, cockatiels and finches, I find birds to be messy, or maybe it's that I'm not a vigilant enough housekeeper to keep them from looking messy

And regarding the posters who are saying aren't you worried what other people will think or that others will think you have some "issues"? Bah. You can't live life that way. My motto is that everyone is at least a little bit crazy in their own way

The only other person / people I would be concerned about are the people that live in the house with me, because they will have to live with whatever I bring into the house as well. Or, whatever I bring into the house that then needs a home built for it outside

My husband must love me because he is building my coop and put the yard up. And built gorgeous kennels for my dogs to be in when we are not home. And maybe I can get him to build a barn for some other critters

But I digress...

Good luck to you and your chickens, let us know what you decide / how it goes!

I would have to agree with the popular vote here though Chickens should not live inside with you they are dust making dynamos I dust my garage coop once a week and its amazing how it collects.

whatever makes you happy. one of my husbands friends has pug dogs in his house. i mentioned i had 2 cats in the house and said something about some people saying something about the hair(i try to vaccum on regular basis) anyway he said well its my house and people dont have to come there. so there you go. its your house. i mean hmmmmmm i am actually looking into getting my hen spayed cause she has had recent trouble and i dont want her to have anymore trouble. so its your house. the hutch thing someone posted looks good to me. they can sleep in it and stay in it when you are not home. thenm when you are home you can take them outside

Yes though technically Inbar is breeding stock & is a bantam. They crossed them with cornish cross to get their featherless broilers. They need less heat or cooling to keep them alive in a hot country like Israel & there are no feathers that need disposing of at slaughter time. Here's me with a broiler roo:
