in Canada today. These Arctic conditions will linger another week according to the weather forecast.

My squabs that hatched December 26 & 27 are coping well and I have eggs in another white homer nest. This loft is not insulated and there is only 1\4 inch plywood between them and the elements.

My ring neck pheasants are enjoying my extra trips to the buildings and wondering what all my fuss is about. I shut up my ventilation ports yesterday because of the cutting wind but may open a few today if there seems to be vapour in the buildings. I open my double doors first thing in the morning that changes the air inside the building in about 5 seconds.

I am trying to get a Dove release business off the ground (no pun intended) but I yet to have my first paying customer LOL.

My grand daughter and I got our first white homing pigeons exactly a year ago on the 23 of January. It is hard to get a White dove release business going especially with off spring like this one on the left.

My adult birds are excellent homers plus it is going to take another year or more for my business to find its niche. I am going to need 25 birds that I can release on any give day for to get things viable. I only have 14 counting the ones on eggs.

In a perfect world I would have had 25 by now. Except for birds I lost through my own stupidity (expecting too much too soon) and the ones that were too slow getting predator wise Birds of Prey in particular. The breeder I got my first birds from kept them prisoner and never flew them.

Okay, cool. I'm hoping to start one, too. We'll see. I sold all my show breeds as they just didn't keep my attention, considering I don't show. So, hoping to do the white homers, (regardless of starting releases) and maybe FOR's in the future. See how that goes.

It gets a little boring looking at pure white homers (once you seen one you seen them all). It sure is an attention getter when you release say a dozen in one go. It is like day time fire works. It will draw everyone's attention with in a 300 ft radius and start a barrage of questions.

There is plenty of information on line on training and I would suggest you getting pigeon bands with your name and phone number inscribed on them. I got 100 for about .50 cents a piece at N.E. Pigeon & Livestock Supply, LLC. They have a website on line or you may have something more local to you that you may be able to draw on. My grand daughter and I enjoy the birds on their own right regardless of the Dove Release thing. Good luck fowlsessed!
