uggghhh I just learned the biggest problem with a stagger hatch like this.
On sept 28/29 I hatched out 4 buff orpingtons. Yesterday the 1st baby that hatched I tried to add with the BO's. No way, they nearly pecked it to death. So I got a second box and put him in it separate from the BO's. Now the hatch that happened today, I put it in the box with the one that hatched yesterday. Same darn thing, Chick #1 wanted to just peck away on hatch #2. grrrrr darn pecking order thing. So I guess they will all be going in their own boxes.
No not ever again...staggering hatch such as this.

yup did it once with 4 different dates of chicks-and this is what happened-
4 different brooder boxes with 4 different lights-had to go out and buy two more lights and used my tub as a brooder for a duck that hatched out of one of my shipped "chicken" eggs!!!
these were 3 out of 4 hatches in 10 days! NEVER AGAIN!!!
hahahahaha too funny. Im sorry that happened to you. To my surprise, I went out to look for another box, and left the 2 chicks together while I was outside. And then I come in and I am all ready to separate them, and I be darn, the 2 are huddled up together in the box under the light and getting along just fine.
woooo hooooo I got lucky. We will see about tomorrow's hatch.
I put all of them together at the 3 week mark! in a big 4 x 8 brooder in garage-a few fights here or there-but now at 5-6 months old they all get along great!
Good morning everyone. Day 3 of this "hatch week". Watching nervously this morning, the Sept. 17th egg has not pipped yet this morning and its 7 a.m. Keep your
24 hours to go (and counting down) until the Double yolk is due to pip.
