Double yolk eggs?

I would start feeding them a little less and just wait. If you keep on getting double yolkers after 3 weeks, start giving them a little less food. continue and be patient untill your chickens are laying almost all single yolkers. about 1 double yoker every 1-2 months is OK.

Yes, thanks. Blue eyed Harlequin. He'll be 7 this summer and isn't slowing down any. He plays like a puppy w/ our 6 month old GSD pup. They are best buddies.

This is my Maggie, she thinks she's the queen of the house and she's got one blue one half brown half blue eye, she'll be 7 in June!

Should I be cutting back on feed even for brand new pullets? I have gotten 6 double yolkers in the past few weeks. I believe three of those are from the same girl if not five of them. 1 I know was from a different hen because it was green. I always leave the feeder out there and never thought about taking away the food. I wondered if the double yolks just were more prone to specific breeds etc?

All the info on "Double yolk eggs" has been very helpful. When I was a child, we had Rhode Island Reds and was told that if a hen lays a double yolk egg she will every time..... but over feeding makes much more sense!

yeah expect double yolkers at first, but if they are consistent then cut back on their feed a tidbit
