My DH made breakfast this morning...he was very surprised to find a double yolk in one of the small eggs from one of the pullets that just began laying. He likes their eggs so much that he made egg burritos to take to his work this week. He is diabetic...uses the low carb tortillas and one strip of bacon and our fresh eggs.

Isn't it fun to find two little bitty yolks. Our pullets are doing the same thing.

Pullets can lay a variety of eggs....over or undersized, two or no yolks etc. They eventually settle down to the regular pattern, but you never know what you might get in the meantime!,

That`s so neat:) My pullets are not laying any neat eggs, but they are tasty;)

I went out at 3:30 to see if they were finished so I could collect the last two...well, one was on the 'fav' nest box...think it was either Lucille or Maureen. Appears they are the 'late' layers, so will collect hopefully the last two for the day when I bring in the 'ice' bottles so I can refreeze them. Ready for this heat wave to go away! One of my bunnies just loves to gnaw into the milk jugs; he is now getting grape juice jugs since their plastic is not so easily punctured by his sharp lil teeth!

Me too!!! Thankfully, the chicken coop is in the shadiest spot in the yard. We had a break from the humidity today, thank God, because you could actually breathe outside! Tomorrow is supposed to be 89, I will need a sweater

Our run/coop has a roof but is not shaded by trees...it has been way over 100 in there for weeks now. I make lots of wet places where they dig what looks like fox holes.

Yep, I would probably need a sweater if we got down to 89! This morning I was already watering when the sun finally came up...there was a lil bit of breeze and I nearly got goose-bumps!

Our forecast has us with 99 or 100's through next Sunday...I think my brain is fried! We usually do not have much humidity...just dry heat. Ground has very serious large cracks. Stay cool!
