Crowing
Twins run in my family. I have a twin brother and twin sons. My twins are the fifth set in 4 generations. All fraternal not identical and they don’t skip a generation in my family like a lot of twins do.

I think crows and ravens are fascinating birds, highly intelligent. However they don't live this far south so I never get to look outside and say "I see a murder of crows!"While we wait, here’s a few lines from an interesting book I saw, The Comfort of Crows
by Margaret Renkl
First Bird
According to birding tradition, the first bird you see on the first day of the new year sets the tone for your next twelve months.
….who wouldn’t want it to be a crow, to spend the year being watched over by a crow.

Below are the eggs I got from an in law in MT drove 10hr to get there. Candled, I had to remove 4 because they got moosed around, (cough* DH) One looked to old to set.
I can set 19 they are mostly surprise mixes. There may be NN though. She had 30 hens and 2 or 3 roosters.View attachment 3683871
Sad but true, I'm below the purple zone on that picture in Texas. We do have groove-billed Anis, a large black intelligent ugly bird, spent a summer observing a pair that nested in one of our oaks.Really? No crows? View attachment 3684179
I love Mockingbirds! They usually nest around here in the summer but I didn't hear calling any this year.Montana has big mocking birds.
