so one of my wonderful barred rocks is laying giant double yolks. I am assuming the first huge egg I got is a double and the one I got this am, that I cracked open to enjoy, is. So my question is will she always lay double yolks or is this just a fluke?

She may or may not lay many double yolks. Often times if a bird has recently started laying I have gotten more double yolk eggs. Enjoy...

The first egg my Mille Fleur d’Uccle was a double yolk, but she hasn’t laid another since. This is her third week since she started laying and we still have not had another double yolk. Your girl will probobly start laying single yolks most of the time and just some doubles rarely.

I’ve never heard of a chicken laying four double yolks in a row though, very lucky!!! :clap

Now if I could just figure out which one did it lol and give her extra treats :love:woot and then get all of them to be consistent. Thus far I never know how many I will collect on any given day. But each day is like Christmas. :yesss::jumpy

My Rhode Island Reds started laying and most of the eggs aren't very big yet but I found a whopper the other day [no wonder she screamed as she was laying it. LOL] and it was a double yolk as well. Poor birds have to hate laying those.

Just got my first double yolk today. Very excited. It weighs in at 3.8 ounces. Not sure who laid it since I have a mixed breed of ten hens. I hope I get more.
