The girls are randomly giving me double yolks every few days, they are huge eggs! What does this mean? Too much of a certain thing, not enough of another? Are they combining two days worth of eggs together to form this massive bullet looking thing? Is it bad, or reasonable?

My mother used to regard them as good omens; but I found them to be good omletts. Eat them.

Yes, as Egh said , sometimes it is hereditary. I had a buff Orp that was banded when I bought her because she layed double yolkers. Her offspring have done the same.

Means it would've been twins, from what I've ever heard.

Just out of curiousity...has there ever been a triple yolker (not you personally...just generally?)

Girls that just started laying will often take some time to get into their production cycle, and they will often lay double yolkers.

I'm curious to see if our Ameracauna pullets will.

Our gold sex links did for a few weeks.

So far, my ameraucana/easter egger has given us two double yolkers! She started laying about two weeks ago and is pretty regularly giving us an egg a day!
