I wanted to try raising my own chickens for eggs this year, so about a month and half ago I built a coop and run and bought 4 chickens. About 3 weeks later, I was hooked and wanted more....so I went back to the original seller and got his last one. It look a couple days, but the original 4 welcomed him eventually with little issues. I wanted a couple more chickens, since I can't keep eggs in my fridge with the amount of people that want fresh eggs. It took me a while, but I finally found a lady that was selling ready to lay chickens. I bought 5 more and doubled my flock, but it's been a week and I see a separation in my flock. The old five and the new five don't really mingle until they roost. During the day the new five stay in the coop and the new five are outside in the run. Should I do something, or should I just give it more time? Thanks for the help!

I agree. I took in three full grown hens that had only ever known each other. They were absolutely inseparable and for a while wouldn't even leave the coop. It took a while, but they eventually merged with the flock and are very happy now.

Great, Thanks! I just wanted to make sure there was something I wasn't doing. The old chickens have full beaks, and the new ones have been debeaked, so I guess I feel a little bad for the new ones.
