On March 3rd my wife and I decided to buy some Baby Chicks from or local Rual King. My Daughter and Boyfriend wanted to get some too. We both got Delaware’s they got Barred Rock’s. Here’s some pics of there first day in my Brooder

So darn cute! :love Delawares are a gorgeous breed.
I’ve never had Delaware’s before I researched them before I bought them to make sure they were a high disease resistant chicken and also can take the cold weather too. It can get pretty cold here sometimes in the late Fall, Winter and early Spring for days. Now since we have all this new Technology it’s much easier to do your homework before you decide on what Breed to buy for your climate before now it was trail and error. Thanks for stopping by I appreciate it.

Yes I don't know what we'd do for research without the internet. :D I started with Quail 14 years ago and there was no internet, I couldn't find a book on raising them for the life if me. So I flew by the seat of my pants on it all! Anyway, glad you were able to research Delawares, I think you will really enjoy them.

I feel for you back then but that’s how we learn sometimes it’s the best that way makes you appreciate it better when you succeed in doing it with no help. I’ll post some pictures tomorrow on how there doing.

I took this pic about 3 weeks ago now of my Delaware’s and the ones I hatched out in Early March there starting to really grow.

I just love the coloring of Delawares adult feathering, I can see the darker tail feathers coming in here. They are going to be gorgeous when they are full grown!

I have a question some are not coming in being I bought these from Rual King just wondering if they threw some leghorns in the tank they were in?
The people that work at these places are not experts, there is no guarantee what the label says on the bins is what you are getting. This said, its too early to say yet, chicks will molt 6 or 7 times yet until they are mature. Colors can look off until then. Not to worry yet! :)
