We've already begun downsizing with the new year. We rehomed one hen and nine roosters, various breeds.

Now we have left:

1 Great Pyr mix puppy
1 cat (mutt)
1 parrot (Mexican)

1 black Langshans pullet
1 Buff Brahma pullet
1 Salmon Faverolles pullet

2 bantam cockerels (black tailed buff and a red frizzle cochin)
4 bantam pullets (assorted decorative)


I have to do some more rehoming though. The parrot has to go. I've got nine chicks and two ducks coming in March, I need to be able to pay for new fencing.

Y'all are making me feel a little better.

38- 2 week old chicks. I figure half will be roos.... dinner or rehomed... that will downsize.
27 - hens, 23 of whom are laying
2 - roos.

That's 67 chickens.

I'll be selling or rehoming my GC Maran pair.

I'll be selling some EEs and a few others from the laying coop

I've got to get it down to 40... it's all I have room for in the coop and two pens.

Uummmm, I'm not sayin' !

Most certainly, I must downsize, yes! As I am just beginning, and have several breeds, I have to first grow them all out, to see who I am going to keep for the breeders pens. Once I get my breeders established, I think it will be easier to downsize. (I hope!)

Dang it ... at this point, I am just anxious to get some darn eggs!

My list is in my sig! I've got a fairly significant number of animals, but I'd never even think of downsizing. They're all members of the family! Plus, to be honest it's not that hard to juggle caring for all of them.

I'll certainly be adding some chickens in the spring, even though I know I shouldn't.

I just can't resist peepers, and I have my eye on a few breeds and colors I don't have yet! I'm going to try not to add many birds, but maybe...five or so. I'll add on to the coop if I have to, though--anything to make sure everyone is still comfortable and has enough space!

Well I feel better now! At Christmas my Aunt asked me how many animals we had now. When I told her she made some comment about the amount of feed! Yada yada, yea I ahve heard it all. But this is how it goes, I love animals and my husband loves me!!(Thank Goodness)

I will be downsizing some over the next couple months. Mostly some breeds/colors that I have several of. Also, about 9 roos need to be sold. I think my current total is 85-90 chickens and 3 ducks.

I really love having all that I have, but some days I am jealous of the families I see on here that have one quaint little coop with a roo and 5 hens. I don't think I could part with all that I have now and go down to that. I started with a big order from McMurray and its grown from there! Now that I have written it all down...I really think I am going to have to cut back more than just 10 or so lol.
