Doxycycline 20% in Muscovy duck crop?

Edit for clarity - is it possible to mix the Doxy powder with some water and syringe it directly into her crop? If so, how much of the doxy should I use? I don't want to put it in the drinking water because I don't want to dose the other birds

Hi Folks,

My 4.5 pound (2040g) female Muscovy needs a course of Doxy, I thought I had pills on hand (they are on order) but I only have powder. 1/4 tsp = 200mg Doxycycline
She's in with 4 other birds so I don't want to dose the water.

Is there I way I can mix a small amount with water and syringe that into her crop? (I've tube fed before). I'm not sure how much I would mix up based on her body weight, nor if this would even work.

Thanks! You said 1/4 teaspoon = 200mg. If 1/4 teaspoon of powder wighs one gram, that is true. What does the label on the bottle say?

Label says the same - that scoop is from inside the bottle, and it's 1/4 tsp/ 200mg. But the only instructions is to mix 1 scoop with 32 ounces of water, but that's for treating the whole flock

4.5 / 2.2 x 50 = 102 mg twice a day

If there are 200 mg in 1/4 teaspoon, then you can mix 1/8 teaspoon in water and tube it twice a day.

So the 2.2 is her weight? And to be clear:

Mix 220mg Doxy in 1/8 tsp water and give her half in the morning and half at night... yes?
