I have two 3 month old ducks
One is a mallard looking runner duck and even compared to other runner ducks she looks to be on the smaller side but I'm not completely sure about it and the other is a Abacot Ranger (streicherente) drake who is definitely much bigger and heavier than the runner duck.
I was under the impression that both of the ducks were female and therefore posed no problems but I noticed a drake feather on the bigger one today and I'm so worried that once they start wanting to mate, the bigger duck will drown and kill the smaller one.
I love them both so much and I don't know what to do..
It's nearly impossible for me to get more ducks
should I be worried? is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening?
the smaller one is definitely a female (you can hear her from a mile away when she's upset..)

Make sure they have water available for mating. I have a 12pound Muscovy drake and his Muscovy females are 4-5 lb. they do fine mating and most duck prefer to mate in water. You might want to consider at least one more female because hormonal drake can really abuse one female they are very rough when mating. I don’t think one drake by himself would drown a female even though it sometime looks like they are trying. It’s usually when we have more than one drake we have that worry.
