drake got 'tied' with my 3 month old hen!

as for the babies....I rehomed all but 2 and from vent sexing I kept only girls. No more ducklings for me! That is why I'm thinking of finding him a home and keeping his girls for eggs!

I guess I wrote my last post while you were posting this one, haha, cause I didn't see it before. It shouldn't be too hard to give a duck away for free I would think

Good Luck!

thanks everyone! I hope my little Jelly Belly pulls thru and gets to feeling better. Finger's crossed!

We had an unruly drake here too.....needless to say he went to a new home. If you simply cannot have him separated permanently from the hens then he has to go. It's dangerous.

We had exactly the same thing with our drake. Mad sex fiend for chickens. Not seasonal, all year! Had to separate him until we could find him a new home, but could not get anyone to take a lone drake. Then finally sold him the day after I listed an ad for a pair (drake and duck). So, I had to lose one of my girls, but it was worth it to see them both go to a good home. They went to join a lone duck whose companion had died, so good all round.

Only thing is, my remaining two ducks are a bit lost without him but I am sure they will settle down soon.

If you have to lose a girl to go with him, then you can always replace her with another girl duck.
