Drake head feathers.

Does anyone know the reason my drake, Chowder, will do this to his head feathers occasionally? I got him to do it for the picture by holding him on my lap for a few minutes then put him down to join his gf, Waddles.
One pic is normal Chowder the other is poofed up Chowder.

My Piddle and Paddle do that maybe its a drake thing
 
Lol, my guys do it too, usually that feather flaring, standing up really tall, making a ridiculous noise, followed by dropping their heads low to the ground and zooming around. 🤣

Mine too😆 or they put there heads down and take off after one of the other ducks and come to a screeching hault just as they reach them and walk by like what i didn't do anything
