Thanks for the response. Glad to hear Bumpy is feeling better. Thanks! Bumpy seems to be doing much better this morning. I let him swim in the bathtub while I cleaned his cage and he was definitely enjoying himself. Yesterday he just floated around, looking miserable.
Regarding the issue Rudy is experiencing, I would recommend taking him to a vet if you’re able to. Bumpy has continued having regular bowel movements throughout his ordeal, and it’s very concerning that Rudy hasn’t had any in 30+ hours. How much is he eating and drinking?
Rudy's appetite is definitely reduced but he has eaten some and seems to drink a normal amount; seems like it could just as easily be attributed to stress. He spends most of his time in his tub so it's possible that he's pooping in there. Water doesn't seem nearly as dirty as normal, but they normally have the run of the yard and track tons of mud into it so I'm not sure what level of mucky poop alone should create.
I think I'll try bringing him inside this afternoon to see if I can confirm if he is or isn't pooping.
It feels callous to say but I don't think I can justify a Vet trip. The male ratio is already too high in my flock and, from what I've read, I'm expecting that I'll have to rehome at least one when they start getting too aggressive this spring. Rudy was in the lead to be the one I kept, but won't be able to justify the cost of ultrasounds or exploratory surgery when I know I might have to cull one of them in a few months anyway.
For now, he doesn't seem to be in any serious distress, in-fact the prolapse doesn't even seem to be bothering him anymore... although it is still out and gentle pushing still doesn't get it back in.
