Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

Pics
just about everybody I know is switching to LED lights. some are just switching the ceiling light out and letting it be enough for a grow light. I don't usually start plants.
I am busy being a goffer and nurse maid to Annie. She fell and fractured a bone in her knee last Saturday. Thursday we find out if she needs surgery or/and a screw inserted. From looking at the pictures, I am guessing they will wait and see, since there is no displacement of bone.

So sorry to hear that Jim. I imagine that's very painful. Hopefully it's a quick heal. I'm glad you are doing well enough to take care of her.

update on the knee: Annie cannot put any weight on it for 3 months. after that, if it is not healed, they want to put a new knee in.
So, she will not be doing any gardening this summer. I will probably plant everything, but if I can't keep up with it, it will just have to go to weeds.
Monday we get our second shots. They said that they will come out to the car for Annie.

So sorry to hear that Jim. That's a long heal. Than a potential knee replacement? Those are even harder heals. I've had both done. It wasn't pleasant and took nearly a year to feel close to right again.

I've been growing lots of weeds here lately. I can't weed much myself either. I do what I can.

I got my first vaccine last weekend. I bet having the second is even more of a relief.

Hi, I have been busy taking care of Annie. didn't have time to play on the computer.
She is doing fine. Dr said that he is hopeful that she won't need the knee surgery. She starts PT next week.
I haven't checked, but I am thinking that my garlic and rhubarb might be coming up.
I know it is early, but.......
We both have had our second covid shots. glad that is over with.
I have four holes to dig for apple and cherry trees that should be coming soon.
but it is too wet to go there with the tractor. I am going to try to dig oversized holes with the loader bucket. the ground is sort of clay and stoney. I will add lots of compost to each hole.
then I have to prepare a 30 foot row for asparagus plants. will dig a trench with the tractor for that, too..

Good to hear Annie is doing well. It's definitely an early spring. All this rain is making everything come up. Hopefully this year we will skip the late spring snow storm.

I don't know if anyone follows old wives tales like I do. We've already had two of the three witches since the frogs started croaking so we are due one more before we are good to go. A witch is any cold weather below freezing.

Weather changes or lows happen on the new moon. So that's why we have cooler weather this week.

My garlic is well sprouted too, so I seeded the rest of my cold crops. I think I see some sprouts.

I have a couple reports of rhubarb poking their heads out. One from Sun Prairie and one from Green Bay. I still haven't gone down to see if mine is up.
I am hungry for SOS. I think I will whip up a batch.
Annie is getting better each day. She starts PT for her knee this week. I hope it doesn't aggravate it too much.

Yesterday I went down and looked at the rhubarb and garlic. Not a sign of anything , yet. they are all heavily mulched with straw and the ground is wet, so I was not surprised. There is plenty of time left before fall. LOL
