Dreaming of Spring Gardening in the Middle of a Wisconsin winter part 2

I have some buff American, and Pilgrim geese as well as few mixed males, so they are a mix or purebred pilgrims. Most are probably mix again. Last year they hatched 3 eggs and all were males. We will see what odds I have this year.

We still need to pick up winters fallen branches as well. Lawn is still fairly squishy, so we wait.

I had some pilgrims once. Got them as adults. They never did tame down. Had a couple of buffs. also had a few different breeds. Mostly Toulouse.
I hope you get a few females with this batch.
I think we are going to get a touch of spring from now until at least next Sunday.
that should turn the grass green.
maybe you will get your tomatoes outside after all.

I got my Kozy Koats filled and decided to just plant my ever growing tomato plants out in them. We will see how they do.

You might have to cover your tomatoes a couple of times , before we get mild evenings.
Why do rabbits eat granite on my driveway ? I think it might be for the salt we used to melt the ice ?
The garlic is coming up in the two small beds. They were mulched heavier than the big bed was.
Can see the rhubarb from the road , now. still no asparagus.

The Kozy Koats will keep my tomatoes safe. If we get a frost I will throw buckets over the tops. I'm hoping to meet or beat my record of a fresh tomato by the end of June.

I would guess salt and minerals too for the driveway licking rabbits. Interesting.

No asparagus here either. I think it usually takes another few weeks, but with the warm up maybe it will suddenly appear.

I need some of those Kozy Totes! I have tomatoes and peppers that need to go out too! I hope to start hardening them off this weekend. We have a projected 82 for next Tues, tonight is the lowest temp for the next 10 days at 41 degrees.

We built them where they sit because they are made of pressure treated lumber and are quite heavy. Corner posts are 4x4's. We built them when I got my first knee replaced.

They have no bottom so worms can move up and down. They are filled with the soil that used to form my raised beds made of soil I used to rake up, and form beds. I have practiced no till for a long time, putting grass clipping, and fall leaves on my garden beds. I eventually created more soil by doing so.

Nice job. It takes a lot of dirt to fill that many boxes. but it is worth it in the end.
I didn't get anything done yesterday. We went to a Mexican restaurant in Merrill for chimichangas
Sinco de Milo .
I have to prepare some dirt for starting my cuttings. I am going to do apples and elderberries to start with. maybe plums later on.
got to tune up the tiller too.

nice day today. I spent a lot of time outside. didn't get a lot done,
removed the tree wrapping from the new trees. I am happy that they all made it through winter. they are budding out.
checked the elderberries for cuttings. there are several good candidates. there should be leaves on them in about a week.
I came back up to the garage to mix soil for the cuttings. that did my back in. had to go into the house and sit down. will go back at it tomorrow.
little rabbits under the wheel chair ramp. I need an outside cat or two.. where are the foxes when you need them ?
