Sorry to hear about your goose, Lisa. Having sick/injured animals is so stressful when you can't make them better.
My Midnight Majesty Maran, Eleanor, was acting unwell in the coop and wouldn't roost. She was sleeping under the "poop hammock." I brought her indoors on Christmas; after losing my little Maxie, I wasn't going to let Eleanor die cold and hungry. The soonest I could get her to the vet was yesterday. First, I was snowed in here, and then Dr. M was out of the office.
Eleanor has frostbite and bumblefoot on both feet. She was also dehydrated and got IV fluids at the clinic. She came home with an antibiotic, pain med and burn ointment. I am supposed to soak her feet in Epsom salts and try to rewrap them later. Wish me luck. I will use the "taco" method and restrain her in a towel, but it would be much easier with two people.
My afternoon was dominated by driving to the vet clinic in another county, hanging out while Eleanor was treated and IV'd, and driving back home in the dark. But, I spent the morning taking down all the Christmas decorations. It's always a challenge to get the tree back into its box.
As 2022 ends, I want to say thanks to you on this thread -- especially Lisa, Jim and Anjanet -- for letting me join your conversations. I appreciate all of you and look forward to your posts.
Hey, Jim, how were those ribs?
