Drinking water till she throws up

Ugh I can't believe I picked a gosling with so many...needs. After the plant incident too. This gosling drinks so much water, about 20 sips at a time. Her poo is basically water. We try not to give her a lot but then she tries to find water droplets to drink, and then she spits up water and tries to drink that too...what do I do?

When they are not getting enough water, when they are finally allowed access to it, they drink and drink and drink until their crop overflows and some of it comes back up. She should have access to water at all times. Once she has evened out on her need to drink water, she will stop doing this.

Do you just have the one gosling? From your posts it sounds as though you decided to sell off the others against the advice you received.

I agree they need food and water 24/7 and never food with out water.

She is gorging because she doesn't have water all the time.

And water fowl just in general love to stand and dip water continually.

FYI Flushes dehydrate them too so Very important they have plenty of access to water with electrolytes in it.

I want to adress this line though... a gosling is a baby, of course it has needs... if you cannot handle raising, caring for and watching out for it's own well being, then maybe you should look into rehoming it... you've compounded your own problem by keeping a lone gosling, without company of its own kind it will be getting into mischief that much more... just my opinion...

So I just got done reading all of your threads and I think you should take this gosling to a vet because near as I can tell, the goslings *had* watery, yellow poop *before* the toxic plan was eaten. Excessive thirst, vomiting, yellow poop, watery poop, etc, are not normal! A quick trip to the vet would be you best bet.

All animals must have access to fresh water 24/7. Please do not withhold water, and refrain from handling this gosling after it has been drinking because handling it could cause it to vomit and aspirate (inhale) the vomit.

I too just wanted to come back quickly and address this line. The gosling you picked is not abnormal. It requires the same things all baby geese do. Access to water 24 hours a day and drinking a ton after being deprived of it is not abnormal. Eating plants outside is not abnormal. She needs to be kept from eating poisonous plants. Nothing that's happened is indicative of her being more needy than a normal gosling.

I did see your post trying to sell your male, against the advice you received to the contrary. You said in previous posts that you'd be around all the time. Geese have been known to live forty years. Is nothing going to change in forty years? Will you never want to take a vacation in forty years? Will you even still be alive and able to care for her and be with her 24/7 in forty years? I know all this was said before but I wanted to reiterate it.
