They currently have a 20% starter grower they are consuming. But I'm looking for information on food once they start laying.

First eggs are exciting.

The starter/grower you are currently using is fine for life with oyster shell on the side. If you plan to use the Dumor all flock pellet with oyster shell, I would wait until the starter/grower is gone. Some say to mix feeds for a transition period but that is hard to do with crumbles and pellets.

I've been using Nutrena's meatbird 22% protein feed and layer feed in separate feeders for 2 years now. It's been working well for me. My Swedish flower hen flock are dual purpose.

I will offer this.

You can see my flock below. I don't actually feed them the way I just recommended, but I don't have the typical backyard flock, or the typical backyard management of them, which allows me to make some tradeoffs and balance some risks to enjoy some cost savings. I'd like to believe its an educated, intelligent trade off - its definitely NOT appropriate for most BYCers.
