If you breed and they are good quality, I am interested in buying eggs, if you sell them.

My fowl are show type , no hatchery birs here, I might sell some eggs later on after the first of the year. Soon as they feather up will post some pictures.

That would be great! There are a few of us on here who are trying to breed for Show quality, and some of us are close. It's hard to find other stock to improve our birds

Awesome! I am looking to expand my bloodlines, so please keep me in mind if you decide to sell eggs.

I'm excited to read up on these posts. I plan on relieving Dave, my rooster at the next Chickenstock in October. I hope to eventually pick up some new genes from a rooster. If anyone has a nice bird that will accompany my girls, I would love to see. Its getting late on shipping eggs.
Now, when showing your mille fleur's , someone had mentioned that year 2 is when you can see their real beauty. Then when they get to white, they need to be placed in breeding or cull. What is your opinions?

Either way, they are such happy birds and that roo is a bugger!!!! He was trying to attack my ankles tonight! (they are definitely hardwired, aren't they)

The more they molt the more white they get, it is not a fault. For showing purposes, I would wait until they have their full coloring before they get too white, though I'm not sure what age would be best. As for culling an older bird that has a lot of white on it? If it didn't have a lot of white as a youngster, there is nothing wrong with it. So use it in your breeding pens

I think the largest problem with the Mille getting too light is some are working with too light young fowl. If you start with a young Mille that is real light, when he is two year old they will be too light. I try and breed the darker line of Mille as they will stay a good color for many years. I have my light box done and will get some pictures done this weekend and post.

I should also say I do not use the real light colored males for breeding.

I appreciate your talk, I am not great at understanding genetics and I wish there was a way for me to comprehend it so to better this breed that I adore.

Now, are any of you selling eggs for hatching? I'd love to have some new blood...I should say expand!

I was wondering if someone could give me an opinion on a Duccle Mf Rooster i was thinking about buying, i don't want to post the picture as it isn't mine, so if you anyone could give me some input just PM me that would be great!

I keep mine in quads or quints, 1 roo to 3-4 hens.
I have 5 distinct coops w/ runs coming out of a shed. In the winter I can close off the pop doors and keep them warmer. I let them free-range together when not breeding.
I have a large temp run that I use for grow-outs in the spring/summer/fall.

I have a Mille Fleur quad. I also have a back-up quad of young MF that I may be selling soon.
A quad of Goldneck roo over a lav, gn, and 'white' hens, just to see what the results are next spring.
I have a pen for the Black Mottleds (split to lav) when they get old enough.
I have a pen set aside for some SQ millies I may aquire soon.

I have one pen that belongs to a quint of 3 silkies & 2 showgirls. I refer to them as my hobby within a hobby, but have found I get enough for the showgirl offspring to fund my d'Uccle projects

I don't get near as much for my d'Uccles

That's a regional thing though, since everyone around here seems to think they are bantam Americauna's with feathers on their feet

That's why I will go to sales away from East TN next year!

humm okay, i want to set up individual A frame pens/tractors that has a hen house and an attached cage area. They will be able to hold a pair or a trio of bantams.

How do you guys keep records? Do you just know it in your head or do you keep track on paper?
