Hey Conserva, where/who did you get your eggs from on ebay?? When did you get them and how do they look so far? I want some more whites and blue mottleds...just can't seem to find any that are the "type" or quality I like

I got my blue mottles from 1234Muki...she almost always has mottles on there, usually blue and black and I think I've seen porcelains and milles from her too. She shipped quickly, packaging was great and the chicks hatched 2 days ago and look great. Nice beards already!

I only hatched out 3 of 8 eggs (only one didn't develop) but pretty sure that was my fault. This was my first time hatching bantams and I didn't really know what I was doing...

I just got 9 today (bought 8), the ones I mentioned in the other post from midsummermoon. Again, shipped quickly and packaged well. Hopefully I'll have better luck with this batch!

I know...it's so hard to choose a variety with these guys, so many gorgeous choices! Once they get to breeding age I don't know how I'll handle it if I want to sell eggs but oh well...

1234Muki has some very nice birds, silkies as well. I bought some mottleds from her and 3 out of 9 hatched, BUT, they are very nice chicks! As far as the 9 you received yesterday, those are from my kids so I hope they develop well and you have a great hatch. Keep me posted would love to see what you end up with and how they mature.

Hi Kim! Thanks!
Hopefully you will have lots of little feather footed chicks under that broody soon. Since you got some Mille Fleur Cochins under there as well. Cute cute cute!

I am very excited, I just candled some eggs I purchased, now its not quite 8 days so a bit early. But....I have developement!
These are Quail d'Uccle and Black d'Uccle eggs.
I also won hatching eggs for mottled d'uccle that will be arriving soon.
And... I have a good strong bunch of chicks now ( golden necked, blue mottled, blue mille fleur, white and buff columbian).
My Brown/Reds in the incubator are almost 18 days, I have 9 out of 10 developing. Excellent fertility on those.
So next spring I will have a very good selection of hatching eggs.
I am still working on getting some Blue d'Uccle.

I have people who want the MF, but when they see the Lavs they

and want those instead.
Even when I tell them the MF are MUCH better birds, SQ-wise. I think it's because the Lavs are one color (and very striking early on) and my heritage MF take longer to get their colors. Also, Lavender is currently an 'in' color.
My MF are still SQ at 3+ years, but the Lavs all seem to peak before that and just not look as good (too much comb IMO). I'm trying to improve them but they were from hatchery stock so it will take time.

I have GN eggs in the bator, and 5 hens setting on butterscotch, MF, and Lav eggs. I will be over-run with d'Uccle chicks soon. I can't wait!!

My early butterscotch chicks are looking pretty good. I'm sad because my favorite cockeral for stance and feathering is no good for comb & color. He's going to go be a pet bird in GA soon. The other cockerals are still too young to make any decision. The oldest pullet is to die for pretty, in cream with just a blush of gold around the edges

I didn't think I wanted whites. But my cream-colored hen has really changed my mind about that!

Good luck!!

Oooooooh i want to see her, i really love the all D'uccles but im only breeding the ones that are reconized by the APA. But wouldn't you guys love a LF D'uccle?

I'll try and get a good pic of her. She always seems to dart out of camera range as the shutter snaps

NO! I don't want a LF d'Uccle.
One of the things I dearly love about my little featherfeet is that they are unique, and being small is part of that charm. Since they have ALWAYS been bantams, they have also been pampered showbirds. I think that's why they have awesome personality, too. They have always been eye-candy and not producers of eggs or meat. Big birds don't say 'bling' to me the way these little beauties do!

But that's my opinion, for what its worth
