I'm not sure that applies to the black mottleds? I know the mille fluers are supposed to have small spots when they are young, but I've not seen any black or blue mottleds that didn't have big spots.

I have found and ordered 1 dozen each of the Mille Fleur & Porcelain eggs. Trying to keep my excitement down, mail order eggs can be destroyed before they get here. Keep your fingers crossed for me...and the incubator!!! Oye!
Is there a secret to hatching good mail order eggs besides let them rest 24 hours. Hope everyone elses D'uccle's are doing well.

Oh, will someone spell the correct pronunciation (kind of FoniKly) of D'uccle. I have heard
D' Oockle

D'uckal

D'clay

D-Yuckle

Sometimes I just call them Mille Fleur. Whats your opinion!? (TY in advanced)

I believe the standard for mottled is a small 'v' or triangle of white on a certain amount of feathers per area. Will look and see where I read that....

Yep, don't let them rest for 24 hours unless it is cold where you are. I've had several people tell me that, when it's warmer, they get better hatches when they don't rest the eggs. Sometimes the eggs will start to develop while still in the box, if you rest them they might die. Make sure to keep the humidity fairly steady, the air cells will already be stretched out. I've got one egg that was shipped where the air cell is probably half the egg! It is due in a few days, but I don't hold out much hope for it. I'm sure it will be seriously smaller than the other chicks....only time will tell

It is pronounced 'dew-clay'

ETA: If you need to let them 'settle', put them in the bator but don't turn them for the first 24 hours. That way they are still 'cooking' but not moving

the white is supposed to be a "V" i just checked!

I say "Do-Clay" and "Duck-ul" depending on the day, lol.

So i was holding Fredrick my MF Roo, and he had a darker reddish color towards the back of the comb. Is this frostbite?

Frostbite would look kind of purple at first, but then get a grey or black 'chalky' look to it. My LF BR rooster has a purple/dark spot on the back of his comb, I'd love to know what that's from! Probably the guineas
