d'Uccle color genetics

Henk's calc came up with 4 different combos. That's why I'm taking notes on development. My little girl definitely has a lovely pattern on her feathers, similar to the preliminary patterns many of my MF's get, but with MUCH more black and so far no brown/red tones.

I just went to Henk's calculator and confirmed that a visual "black patterned gold mille fleur" (not split to anything) x a visual "lavender unicolor" (not split to anything) = "black unicolor split: lavender pied/mottled". If it gave you 4 different combinations, something other than just mille fleur and lavender was entered into the calculator.

If the parents look like pure mille fleur and pure lavender, and one of their chicks is showing a pattern and/or colors other than black, that means somebody is carrying genes (aka split) other than what they appear to be on the outside.

The MF are heritage and have always thrown MF.

The Lavenders are hatchery, and always throw Lavs when bred together, but have thrown some surprises with other roos. That's why this is a project for me. I want to improve the mild feather-shredding issue they have as well as figure out what else is in the genetic mix.

I may've done the Henks calc wrong. I find it confusing. Although it was Henk himself who said I'd have 4 variations from straight MF x Lav. That's somewhere earlier in the thread.

Henk, I'm the one that asked him to post the hen over here. I don't think she's citrine, but is she light enough to be of any interest in a color project in that direction? and while we're at it, what does it take to get citrine genetically...anyway? Say a person was to start from "scratch"

tee hee pun intended.

I see.............What would you suggest as the best cross for the MF? At least to begin with and hopefully loose as little type as possible. Keeping in mind that our birds over here are no ways near as good and typy as yours. I just fear they will suffer greatly from being crossed to another breed. Obviously, only the best birds should be used in a project such as this....................anyway..................just wondering about the outcross...............
