d'Uccle Cult

Pics
Are D’Uccle just particularly delicate? We don’t have many bantams in general, but the OEGBs have been quite hardy for their comparable size. We also have a Brahma and silkies that are doing well. They’re so gorgeous, but I don’t know if I can take the heartache!
I think they can be in those first couple of weeks. Were your eggs shipped? Shipped eggs in general seem to be more problematic when the birds are really little. I have had a lot of trouble with shipped eggs with my quail too, there is just less cushion in those tiny eggs if shaken and disturbed during shipping. If they are not shipped, there may have just been some issues with this clutch of eggs?

It is heartbreaking and difficult to accept. It is always the ones we name and make our favorites, I don't know why that always has to happen. :( I hope you have better luck with the others! I'd say make sure they're getting lots of vitamins just to cover all the bases. Hugs to you and your daughter :hugs

They were day olds from the feed store. It’s not ideal weather for shipping such tiny chicks and one of our shops isn’t bringing them in til next month. But they won’t have porcelains…

Ahhh yeah, that travel to the feed stores can be tough on the teeny ones. Especially like you said, the weather is still a bit tough for teeny ones. So sorry for your loss :-(

I'm shocked they had porcelain at all!
Ice never gotten chicks from feed store. We did get baby ducks once and they all had something wrong with their legs where their legs went backwards at knees and ended up dieing.
So I said we'd never do that again.
I've had much better luck with incubating eggs - even shipped eggs!
Though i am finding it very difficult to find any porcelain duccle eggs!
