d'Uccle Cult

Right now I have one rooster, about one year old. He has started sitting on his hocks. He walks on his feet but he's a bit wobbly. I don't think he has slipped tendons and I gave him some vitamin E oil. Does anyone have an idea about this?

I’ve had a few die, and that always seemed the be the first sign, sitting back on their hocks. Then I’d find them laying on their sides sometimes. Then they’d be fine! Then I’d find them dead. My girls seem super healthy, I kinda assumed the males were fighting each other. I honestly don’t know what the cause was.

Hi, may I join the cult of d'uccles? I too love them, my favorite chicken of all time is a delicious 6 yo MFD named Flower (original, I know). I have been wanting more for years...got a couple a few years back from a local breeder but they died at several weeks of age. I have been unsuccessful in finding them anywhere (local, online) this season. Nobody has them, wahhh!!!

Welcome!!! Hopefully they’ll start turning up as the weather improves. I know many hatcheries don’t offer bantams before March or April. Definitely don’t suggest buying any this early as well… It’s so sad losing them! We had much better results when I waited for summer 💕
