I set 12 D'uccles eggs last night! I have 3 millie fluer, 7 self blue, and 2 from a color project. Can't wait to see what I get.

I'm so happy! I finally have D'uccles! I have ordered eggs 3 times this spring, but had no luck hatching them.

I only got 2 chicks out of this last batch, but they are soooo cute. I have 1 porcelain and 1 blue. I need more! I will post pics as soon as I can.

I ended up with 5 porcelains by accident today -- hatchery birds I bought at the feed store hoping they might be cochins. And I just thought it was interesting that you find them to not be broody. I've been reading about the breed tonight since discovering it's probably what I have cheeping in the brooder behind me and most of what I have read has touted their broodiness as a positive. Is that one of those chicken urban myths every breed has?

We got these from our feed store a few days ago out of bantam assortment cage and we think they are Porcelain D'Uccles. They have beards and feathered feet. Also they are ffrom Ideal. Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

I think that it depends on the specific birds. I also have read that some do go broody but most say that the silkie and cochins are best. Also some one on the Old English Game Bantam thread has some that make good broodies. I guess we just need to wait and see what happens. I would love to see a hen raise her brood. In fact I think that I will check on the chick link and see what I can see !
