I agree! They look a bit nervous almost as if they were relieved to see you. He is a cute looking boy

What an adorable trio pic. He looks like he's trying to keep the girls calm.

By the way!!!! I got my first d'uccle egg of 2011 yesterday from my mille fleur pullet that I'd brought in the garage last week with her porcelain pullet friend on account of the cold! Of course it won't be fertile, but at least my husband can't give me so much grief. He believes me now about the others not laying in the cold and short days etc. I can't wait to start firing up the incubator! I think of it as a reward for bringing her inside where it's nice and warm

It is supposed to warm up this week and I'll be mucking out the coops so they can go back outside.

Well, today was a sad day. Little Midget had been looking 'off' and nothing seemed to help. Today she was gasping for air and had that little clicking rattle in the back of her throat with each breath. So the other three went to live with the bigger kids and Midget went to live in the pet cemetary.

And in the Circle of Life theme, 3 more 'tuxedo' chicks hatched yesterday. They joined their big sister (from the show egg) in the brooder. Judging from one of the 'bigger kids' in the coop brooder, they will all be black mottled as they feather in.

I cleaned the coop today, and meant to get pics, but the batteries were dead and we were out of them. So I'll get pics as soon as I can.

Carolyn, your babies are adorable, and your 'tuxedo' chick looks amazingly similar to mine.

SAD news..I cannot find my D'uccle roo. The hen is where she is suppose to be. The roo has a bad habit of not going in with everyone else. I did not see him yesterday or today. Looked everywhere in all of his hiding places...so if anyone ever has any hatching eggs in the near future...PLEASE keep me in mind. If anyone wants to help and thanks in advance for that help and all the condolences....
