D'uccle Thread

I was wondering if anyone know of anyone on here that was selling Black Mottled D'Uccle eggs? I thought I saw an action up last week but I still had 2 weeks left on my hatch of Marans. Now that they are due to hatch this weekend, and Teddi sending eggs next week I have stared to look for some Black Mottled D's to hatch along with her eggs. Keeping my

that someone might PM me.

I have a pair of black Mottled d's for sale, if you are interested.

I'm just looking for eggs right now. I've never really bought any adult birds in my group, don't know why, have only bought chicks or hatch my self. Thank you anyways.

Thanks for the compliment. I was really enjoying selling the eggs, but I just got news that only 3 out of 16 eggs from a recent sale were fertile. Went from 100% to 19% in a matter of weeks. That concerns me so I won't be selling anymore of my eggs until I can verify the fertility again, which will be in a couple of days. Nothing has changed, same packing, same birds, same everything. I can't understand how only 3 of 16 eggs are now fertile. Such bad news

Shipping plays a huge role in how eggs develop and what your hatch rate is. You can't blame yourself when it's happened to all of us at one time or another. Rough postage and fluxuating weather/temps take a toll on eggs, especially when they are going firther than a state or so away. Hang in there Nathan, I'm sure things are fine...no reason to remove your ad

Hey, I would still be darned happy with 3 of your eggs that hatched on shipped eggs! I have had two sets of mille eggs both shipped from the same state on the same week from different breeders, and one had good hatch results 50%, and the other only had 2 develop which quit d/t broken air cells and dented shipping box etc. So don't beat yourself up over it and don't penalize the rest of us by not letting us have a chance at your eggies. BTW as soon as you've got that NPIP# you're mailing me some right?

Greetings all you lovely D'uccle enthusiasts and fellow hatch-a-holics! Well, I'm officially up to my eyebrows in feather footed munchins that are peep crowing like crazy making me wonder if I have mostly cockerels. But none dare to peep a diddle peep when I'm in the room. Smart chickies.
We have 14 baby D's with 6 eggs left to hatch next Tuesday. Its amazing how these chicks can change from hatch to hatch. From the first batch, they are strong and thriving with super large (at this point) feathered feet. (The camera & computer "filed" my photos somewhere)
The next batch of 4 were small, a little different in color, one is actually yellower then the others and has a tail that seems to tip under a bit...wondering if "someone" flew over the pen wall for a conjugal visit with the bantam Cochin. Time will tell! Everyones tails tip up but one. Another unusual thing is that their outside toes tip under until they grow feathers and then they straighten out. The first and this last group have not shown any of these issues.
This last 6 that hatched, their muffs seem to be large, their down is almost around their legs and doing well. Lively, where some liked 90 degrees and thrived in that, this last group pant in 90 F and prefer out where its around 78F. What ever, they are funny, hopping and attacking the thermometer!

Anyways, been helping a friend through some rough times and she is enjoying these babies, nurturing is something we need when our nerves are frazzled. It seems to be the best medicine for my friend, I'm so glad these feathered friends are therapy for more then me.

Enjoy your peepers and send good thoughts to my friend! I do sneak in and read a bit, more like skim, so to keep up with the work and projects that are transpiring in beyond your pc screens! Be well and take care!
