And, on another topic, here are my crew, now out in cages in the barn.

They are coming along nicely...

My problem now is that I have no d"Uccles to take to the fairs and promote d"Uccles - starting in August

I have chicks and eggs in the incubators

Anyone have a good cockerel to sell?

One that will be close to being a roo by August?

( I must be crazy asking to buy a roo)

When they're young, they are often testing to make sure you don't have treats. And some that protect the others that early make good flock protectors later on.
If it grabs and hangs on or twists... Well, those don't last long at my house...

My bators are full and I'm about to boot all broodies. I'm finally getting millie eggs though, and going to post some for auction. Lets hope that doesn't jinx the egg production....

He protects his hen thats for sure. He freaks whenever I take her out of the cage without him.

If their combs are still small and even and yellowish in 3 more weeks, you have girls. If they redden and hypertrophy in the next 2 weeks you most likely have boys.

By the way-- all my roosters are fascinated when I take pics of them with the camera too---It's like an alien visiting their chicken world.

Thanks! I'm really crossing my fingers for hens. I had a really mean rooster last year and with 3 small kids I don't want to keep any more roosters at all. Their combs are still yellow as of now, so hopefully they'll stay that way
