Well, being a virus, I don't believe that it can be cured. But like you said, if they survive it...then you have another set of issues, but resistance can be a blessing. So far, Ricky the little guy that I gave the herb (and I gave him the WRONG herb- gesh) but he is able to walk, he does carry himself on his hocks, but like I said, he can get straight up and waddle along.
This poor guy was a good week prior to him coming back to me, the little girl (great, break another heart!) and her dad gave obviously wonderful care and where I'm home all day, I took him to make sure he drank and ate, of course with 2 millie siblings, he saw them and bonded. Mind you, just the day prior to my getting him, I had 2 pullets drop dead from it.
What I found interesting is I had millies with outer toes that turned in, like a birth defect, not sure if it was or not because 10 had normal feet, 15 did but are functioning normal. None of those Millies have been affected.
Now I just hatched out 2 millies with 9 RIR, 1 standard Cochin, & 1 ? black clean legged standard. The first chick was upright and lively, yet it began to go down hill, and died in the night. I put him in a plastic dish with 1 chick so to have company. In the night had another millie hatch, and like the last one is doing well and was in company of hatching RIR.
With all that said, I am still working on my millies as it is great stock and with this much going on, I would never think of sharing eggs or birds- that would kill me as I felt so incredibly bad with this little girl. I was up front, honest and on the phone with him, and it did my heart good to know that he went to other bird owners and a poultry farm (I hope he didn't step near them) and we all said the same thing, having that reputation of being responsible is only a feather in your cap.
Sorry for the lengthy note, but this other stuff Hypericum sulfate, 1 sublingual tab, I gave almost 1 tab 2 times a day for Ricky the millie, and on the side of the homeopathic bottle its for stuffy head & cough (please don't quote me as I'm NOT that bright!) and with this mixed up weather one of my millies had a bit of a mycoplasma cough, I gave it to her and it quieted down! So, it was not a waste of money and may have found something for that too!
