Wow, she looks just like my favourite little hen!
Mine will also jump up into my lap, and comes running whenever she sees me out in the yard. I got 4 chicks from a bin of mixed bantys at TSC this spring, and had no idea what breed they were. All I knew was that I wanted bantys and ones with feather feet. I found out what they were when I stumbled upon this thread!
Wish I'd gotten a face-shot, she is the cutest thing!
Here is the boy--I think he's going to be really handsome when he's all grown up:
We thought we had an EE because of the muff and beard, but turns out he's a Mille Fleur D'Uccle, silly us! He was hatched at the end of January, so he's about 5.5 months old now, and the sweetest natured bird we have.
So I have a few beginner questions. Ducky is the "sleeping - est" fellow I've ever seen. We pick him up and he falls asleep in our arms, and he just stops and falls asleep where he is a lot too. He also walks in circles a lot, sort of like he's pacing and thinking. Is this just something ours does, or are these pretty common behaviors for the D'Uccles? We think it's cute, and we're not complaining, just wondering
Also, is the Mille Fleur D'Uccle a pretty common bird, or one of the more rare breeds?
Thanks for helping us out with this new adventure!! - oh, I'd better go change my siggy line too!

I don't notice my birds walking in circles. They do tremble some, though, like they're shivering. I talked to some other d'Uccle owners who said theirs do this, too. But mine do not sleep a lot and they don't pace in circles.
I think d'Uccles are becoming more common, depending on your area. SQ birds are still special. And there aren't a lot being shown in my area.
I've been looking and looking on the board trying to find somebody that sells eggs from SQ Milles. I have had no luck over the past couple of weeks finding any SQ breeders. Any help??? I'm going nuts.
Here's pics of our pair. They were hatchery birds. Our hen obviously is not a true Mille. Both birds are wonderful. Our roo pretty much hates everybody but me. He'll fly up and sit on my shoulder when I go out to visit the flock. For anyone else that goes out their feet are fair game.
Something got in our coop back in the spring and killed most of our chickens. Our hen was hurt badly, but she pulled through. While healing she decided to start laying on a clutch of eggs. We still aren't sure yet on what they're going to be. I think a few may turn out to be a cross between the Mille and a Golden Seabright.

In September I'll be selling some SQ birds from my MF. Check my BYC page for pics. I have 18 growing out right now. I plan on keeping at least 4, but the rest I will be selling at the TVA fair in Knoxville.
If you're ever in the East TN area, let me know and I'll see what we can work out
ok ok...I have to ask. I don't know all the abbreviations and all...what is an SQ Mille?? Everyone, don't laugh at once. Let me be first then you can go ahead...
