Is it common for this breed to NOT have all their nails? I have one that has nails missing (or very small), she is also missing a digit on one of her toes...I am not sure the missing digit wasn't a mishapp as a baby though.
It is very common for them to be missing a toenail on the outer toe.
It also is not supposed to be a DQ when showing a d'Uccle.

However, some do start to miss a segment on an outer toe, or have a very short outer toe.

Even though it isn't a DQ, I have tried to avoid having any breeders that are missing toenails. Since it's the outer toes that are the most heavily feathered, a shorter toe or missing segment affects the look of foot feathers on show birds. The missing toenail is a red flag that outer toe genetics are at issue, so the first young birds I sell are always the ones that are missing a toenail.

Heck, I love my Emily so much I'd take your cast offs in a heartbeat! Next time I go down state, I might have to look you up.

so far my lavender/porcelain babies are 2 weeks old today and tomorrow and running around like crazy trying to use paper to take dust baths in lol

ive got plans for all but 2 of my cockerels

my mille is going to go in with 2 silkie/d'uccle pullets that have a mille d'uccle father
my golden necks are going into a pen for breeding them
i have a mottled cochin cockerel whos going with a partridge cochin and a buff brahma
that leaves my bbr oegb and my blue mille all alone for now
i do have 9 babies growing out that i hatched and about 10 more due to hatch on the 1st so i should have some pullets for those 2

A bunch of my original stock are missing nails, I wasn't looking when I bought them because I was still learning. So far, breeding them with birds that have complete toes has had good results, only one chick is missing a toenail out of my four.

hdowden: Those babies are turning out great!!!
