D'uccle Thread

I have a genetics question that is slightly irrelevant. Everyone here seems more educated about chicken breeding than I, so I thought maybe someone could help me.

I am not a breeder but my Millie booted bantam hatched some chicks this spring. I ended up with a chicken that has Millie feathers, long white legs, lightly feathered legs, and looks very "gamey". Her mom was the Millie for sure, but I don't have any roosters with white legs, they are either slate or yellow all the way. Any idea what gave her the long white legs?

This is from the Nankin page (yes I know we are talking d'Uccles but this may be a similar thing for d'Uccles):

"White leg color is considered a fault and occurs because of a hidden recessive gene in the males."
from http://www.albc-usa.org/cpl/nankin.html

Somebody correct me if this is not true for d'Uccles please, as I don't know.

Those also don't have beards so they must be booted. D'uccles are a bearded breed.
the big one if it has feathered feet its probally a booted cause their bloodlines are very similar to d'uccle. also games dont come in porcelain
OK, that is probably what she is. She has everything BUT the beard, plus she is much tinier than the du'ccle roos i have, and the other day she layed a very brown egg......... The chicks are from e-bay, and they are looking quite beard-y! They are definitely not show quality, since they have a lot of feathers on their middle toes. Are true du'cce's near in size to a mini cochin?
The family

I really like how cushy their saddles and necks are!

d'Uccles SHOULD have good foot-feathering...

~ (male) Legs - rather widely set, parallel to each other when viewed from front. Lower Thighs - medium length, feathers starting from lower inside part of thighs, forming a cluster of long stiff feathers close together, known as vulture hocks, inclined toward the ground following the outline of the wings. Shanks - medium length, the front and outside covered with feathers which are short at top and gradually increasing in length toward the bottom, stiff and turning horizontally outward with their ends curving backward. Spurs – short, hard, fine, low set. Toes - four, straight and well and evenly spread; plumage, outside toe and outside of middle toe covered in same manner as shanks.

I am not interested in showing my birds, I just love being able to have some of them! They are my absolute favorite birds! Mr. Bo is a true gentleman and never aggressive.
