D'uccle Thread

Of the photos here only one is non-bearded and the others appear to have a beard. There will always be some if you raise very many that will not have a beard. Look to have decent color.

Oh WOW...Thanks so much. Now I have faith again! You just made my evening.

PLZ post pics of your chickens on my photo contest!!! its under pictures and stories of my birds. Tell everyone you know on BYC! You can post any kind of fowl

looking at that beak in pic #2 it looks curved like a male's beak! they tend to look shorter than a female's beak and have a 'hook' to them. your porcelain looks to be female from the look of the beak and it's stance. if the beak looks long and almost straight it usually is female. but don't quote me on it! at 2 weeks of age things can change as they develop! (and some breeds just don't seem to fit those observations-usually silkies and mixes)

thanks for the comments Chickie'sMoma ... i know its not 100% at these ages.... i just wanted to share and have someone give some insight... and you did... thanks again!

Booted bantam & D'Uccle owners in TN!!

The Tennessee Valley Fair show 9/13 is now a State Meet for the Belgian d'Uccle and Booted Bantam Club!!!!

I realize this is short notice, since we've passed the deadline for entering the show, but there aren't many shows left in Tennessee this year. I never see other d'Uccles at the Cocke County shows. Anyone who knows of other shows in TN that have a good showing of d'Uccles, please send me an e-mail or PM!!

I've been a member of the BDBB club for a few months now, and had offered to be the state rep for Tennessee, but never heard back about it until Friday. On Friday I got a yes. (

I am now the state rep, and will be making club membership forms available to all the d'Uccle or Booted bantam participants at the TVA Fair (and the Something to Crow About show in Cocke County in November, if any compete).

I may not be in Tenn. but this is wonderful news! I'm so happy to hear that you're a state rep and going to be active in the club. I hope this is the beginning of more activity in the club. I feel so bad for the current president who has been carrying the group for decades all by himself, I just hope we all can do our part to pick up the pieces where he is leaving off.

I totally agree, lilcrow!! I fee l for the President, espacially since he lost his wife this year, too.
I would love to see the website become a little more updated and modern, but I'm not sure I have enough know-how for that. Thought about seeing if DH would help me, if I volunteered and was accepted for that duty.

d'Uccles are every bit as pretty as silkies, and I think mine have waaaayyyyy more personality, but they don't get as much attention. I think it's time to change that!

I'd love to make it to the Ohio Nationals and see the competition, even if I can't bring any birds.

I've done web design, but I'm afraid to volunteer for it for fear that I'll end up over committed. I recently moved into this place and still don't have things set up for the winter. I frequently take on too much and then stress myself out and get sick. Maybe the two of us could do it together. I'm not afraid to do it, once I get things straight around here. I've thought for a long time the site needed a friend or two that were willing to dedicate some serious time to it. It wouldn't hurt to have a couple of good minds working on it you know.
