D'uccle Thread

joanie_maine: I also LOVE your coop set up! It looks exactly like what I was planning for my next breeding coop! Could you post pictures?

Just wanted to give an update and a hint for these nice people on this thread who helped me decide on a brinsea octo 20. I currently have 13 standard eggs and 13 bantam eggs, totaling 26. The max is 20-24 eggs, so I crammed them in as close as possible, turning some large end up instead of on their side. To fill in the gaps and make them secure for turning the incubator, I filled in the gaps with packing peanuts. It made them secure and tight as a bug in a rug. I will post the results of the hatch in 21 days! Hopefully my new packing method will prove fruitful. Kust wanted to share my little idea!
I pack all mine in big end up, as tight as I can get them without cracking them.

The weather has been so humid here that I've been doing staggered hatches since Christmas without adding a drop of water to the bator. No problems with anyone hatching. They just show up and I haul out the chicks when they're dry n fluffy. Sometimes I don't even pull the bator off of the turner. I do candle and put a wire divider in for the soon-to-hatch eggs, so that the babes don't get crushed by rolling eggs.

Does anyone in the Seattle area have D'uccle day olds or chicks hatching soon? My D'uccle girl has been cooking eggs that aren't viable for over two weeks now.

Looking for two to four day-old chicks, please PM me if you can help! thank you :) dawn

I have been looking and looking for mille fleur d'uccle chicks and still, I have zero chickens in my flock!
Sorry didn't mean to lash out at you guys. I know it's not your fault.
But still.... I WANT MY LITTLE SNUGGLY CHICKENS!!!!!!
Does anyone know of somewhere I may be able to go to get some? I live in Northern Nevada.
I'm getting six at most, and can't get hatching eggs-no broody hen or incubator!
Thanks!
I just ordered from IDEAL poultry. They are in Texas, but they are shipping to me all the way in Michigan. 20 dollar min purchase, but you can mix and match, and if you throw roos in there on purpose, they waive most of the 20 dollar min. I ordered 4 millies-st run, 2 phoenix roos and 1 brahma female. came to like less than 30 dollars, that includes shipping.

I ordered mine from Ideal too, last year. I'm really happy with them, I've ordered from them twice now and both times were small orders and in not the best weather conditions for shipping. Both times I received a box of happy healthy babies.

I ordered mine to arrive on March 15, my birthday. And it'll be warm by the time they are old enough to be outside, in the mean time, they'll be in an oversized dog crate in a spare bedroom. Cant' wait to post pics!
