D'uccle Thread

Do any of you experienced D'uccle breeders sell eggs?

I purchased some from Ebay, local pick up so they wern't shipped.  The fertility was terrible.  Only 2 out of 18 eggs made it!

My son really wants to get started in MF and blue mottled.  Please let me know if you are willing to ship eggs - or chicks!  Thank you

I wouldn't call myself and experienced breeder, but I do sell hatching eggs. Private message me if you are interested. :)

Good Morning. I got this little peeper at the bantam bin from my local TSC on Monday. She was so cute I had to have her. I thought she was a bannie Cochin, but someone in that thread said she's probably a D'uccle. What do yall think? Her name is Taloola. Thanks

Hello everyone! I recently got some bantams from TSC. When I posted photo here to get a breed idea, some seem to think I have one of these D'uccle chicks. Looking at its picture, does anyone have a slight idea of how the coloring of the feathers might turn out? If you can post a photo of an adult that might be similar to the coloring, that would prob help more since I'm new to the "chicken talk" . ;-)

Your babies look very similar to mine. Esp the tan one in the front. I ended up with 3 from the Bantam bin b/c they were so dern cute, yet not part of the heavy layer plan the DH had when I chose to get new babies this year. I think I ended up with 2 silikes and whatever the brown one you have too. I got 3 just red layers and 2 white rocks. All supposed to be hens. I reckon we shall see.... Either way her name is Taloola. We had a Brahma named LooLoo, as seen in my pic, so I have a rule that feathered babies must be named Loo of some form, lol.

SINCE D'UCCLES AREN'T SEX LINKED, i CAN'T ANSWER THAT QUESTION. i CAN SAY THAT YOUR WHITE SILKIE MAY HAVE OTHER COLOR GENES THAT THE WHITE IS COVERING UP, IF IT'S DOMINANT WHITE. tHE LITTLE TAN ONE LOOKS LIKE SHE MIGHT BE MILLIE FLUERED, BUT ONLY IF THE SILKIE IS CARRYING A SPOTTED GENE.
THE GRAY WITH BLACK IS A MYSTERY, AS USUALLY GRAY COVERS UP BLACK. tHE ONLY WAY TO GET GRAY AND BLACK ON AN ADULT BIRD IS IF THEY ARE CARRYING DOM WHITE THAT LEAVES "HOLES", OR TWO COPIES OF BLUE THAT CAN LEAVE SOME HOLES AS WELL. i HAVE LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF THIS, SO IF ANYONE WANTS TO CORRECT ME, FEEL FREE. THE LEGS ARE KINDA SHORT FOR D'UCCLES. i WANT TO SAY THOSE ARE STUBBY COCHIN LEGS...
our Duccles have short legs as chicks... its a good thing :)

I don't get to upload pics much - here is my hen and the poorer quality roo - the breeder quality roo is off scratching .... but aren't they cute ? They came over and flew up to the balcony where I was reading. Then just preened and watched me.

( I know - I am biased) Oh - and I do not show - so not wanting any input on standards and such - they are just my bug eaters ! :)

Your hen is very nice..... :) excellent beard..... but your rooster is not a Duccle per say... he would be considered a "booted bantam".... if you entered him in a show as a millie fluer Duccle, they would say he was in the wrong class.... they are for sure two different breeds.... a booted bantam has no beard, large wattles, and a larger U between neck and tail, and is much taller......where as the Belgium "bearded" Duccle has no wattles, a beard and a small U or close to a V and are much shorter.. you can see all of these qualities in him. You can breed them, but its very hard to keep the traits seperate.... and you end up with a terrible mix of the two... haha...

Hi Trip Farm .... yeah, I was not trying to be a snot in my earlier post to anyone who had the knee jerk reaction to critique the bird in my picture - but I did mention this is NOT my "good" roo and I knew about the issues and didn't post him up to see if others thought he would be a good breeder - just that the two came over to keep me company. I didn't want a standard/comparison run down of him.

I know your tone was very nice and I took no offense at it - just didn't want that info. I DO know that some people who breed and show are way too nasty to people that post general pictures and I was trying to avoid their input.

I do have her separated now - for 3 weeks - and won't collect eggs for another full week - and she is in with the the "good" roo and that for nothing more than little ones that I will enjoy here on the farm - so even breeding for the farm use I am careful ... but most of the year I have a fully mixed and integrated flock that get the run of my 5 acres.
