D'uccle Thread

Your golden neck roo is a lot darker than mine. I'm wondering how I can darken up what I produce from mine
There are different ways to get the color buff. And different ways to get gold necks. Some gold necks have, is it? Dominent white, that dilutes both red and black, while other GN have blue, which dilutes only the black. Also, some millie fleurs have the darker mahoghany color, while others have the diluted buffs. Since we still don't know the genetics for all the different buffs, it's easy to get a bird with one dilute, no dilute or two dilutes. Just find one of your birds that are walking around with the darker color and breed to it. Keep away from the lighter ones, if that is your concern. I love both the light and dark millies.

Here are pics of some of my babies.....

I just had a hatch yesterday of 6 Mille Fleur peeps. There is nothing as sweet as a D'Uccle /img/smilies/love.gif
What beautiful chickens

Does anyone have Lori of Down South D'Uccles, wegotchickens, telephone number? I am supposed to be getting some chicks from her tomorrow, and I know she got a new job, and she hasn't emailed me back yet. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it!!!

YES. Your girls need to get laying! :) My Millies should start soon. My eating eggs have begun to show up, but those pullets are a month older. I am very excited for yours to get Spring fever.

I took 2 of my d'uccles to a show yesterday (and some old english game bantams and call ducks). The golden neck pullet won Best of Variety and my almost 3 year old black hen won Best of Breed. I need to make sure I piss off the black hen at the next show. She was mad about having a bath, she fussed the whole way to the show and was puffed up and angry in the show cage. And she looked great ! My gray call duck drake won Best Bantam Duck in Show.

My new brinsea eco just hatched out a perfect chick! I had 1 (just 1) egg in it and i didnt add any water since it has rained almost everyday for the past month. So, I have a 100% hatch rate thus far! I cut the bottoms out of a cardboard egg carton to "set" the egg in to hatch, and I liked that method. I just set the egg on the counter and let it roll and settle to determine where the air sack was, put it on the carton so the air sack was up, and 3 days later, out popped Little Orphan Annie (its a marans, by the way), my duccles are only 3 months old. Thanks to all who gave input on my incubator before I bought one!

I got my chicks from Lori at Down South D'Uccles! What beautiful birds she has! So excited to see how my chicks grow out!
