D'uccle Thread

Happy for you! We got our two girls(hopefully!) last week. They are the first d'uccle we have ever gotten. They were the tiniest chicks I've ever seen. Looked like live peeps(the Easter marshmallow chicks). Hope yours arrive safely and healthy!

you should hatch out some serama chicks..even my biggest week old serama is still just a smidge smaller then these new d'uccle's

Question.....I was told this guy could be a poorer quality Mille Fleur D'uccle.. I don't think they're right but Ill let you be the judge/ keep in mind hes lost some plumage, due to season & recovering from a NASTY case of scaly leg mites, a lot of his leg feathering isn't present. He was a rescue bird. Its hard to see from the pix, but he has some spotted feathers on his breast & underbelly, going down to his rear.

he is a game mix and looks like the other half is a crested, non bearded, feather legged breed. coloring is along the lines of a blk breasted red

How do you get a blue millie fleur? Do you gross a blue mottled with a millie fleur?

That is how I got mine. the I put my blue mille too over milles and they throw mostly all blue milles or you can buy one from me

Has anyone gotten their D'uccles from Cackle hatchery? I am not showing, just want healthy birds, with decent muffs/beards, nice personalities and good egg laying. My last ones were from McMurray, and they fit all those criteria, except one had no muff at all, which I didn't like! Do porcelain and self blue lay as well as mille fleurs, and have similar personalities?

From among the three hatcheries that I have gotten them from, Cackle chicks were the nicest. Another hatchery told me the blues were less fertile. I have been raising gold-necked this year with 100% hatch rate from my 1 hen that I was sold by a man that thought she was a roo. The total of chicks from her this yr...I have quit for the year....30+.

Thanks, good to know! I guess fertility doesn't matter to me too much since I probably won't be hatching eggs - just want them to lay regularly. My mille fleurs from McMurray laid probably 5 eggs a week, and didn't quit in winter, but I have heard such mixed thing regarding D'uccle laying ability I don't know how normal this is, and whether only mille fleur D'uccles lay that well, or if other color varities lay less/quit in the winter.
