D'uccle Thread

did some boob at tsc actually say they were pullets?, that is low and at best ignorant. only one place i know sexes bantams and they charge 10$ for a pullet. an woe be to the poor consumer who buys based on that data and later finds out they have 50% roosters they have to find homes for.
Agreed far as i know TSC only sells Assorted bantams now. Their selection is so crumby.

My local TSC had a tub last weekend labeled "pullet bantams". I honestly believe that someone there really think pullet is a breed.
My first batch of d'uccle this year is in lockdown, due Saturday. Set 9, 8 look good, so fingers crossed
i would call the manager and tell them they are misrepresenting their stock and, probably unintentionally, misleading the consumer. i bet most there dont know a thing first hand about chickens, they were just told some things. if you dont get any results call the main office and tell them they need to educate their staff on their products and give them the store number. it is hard to give up an animal you have raised, especially if you are a kid and now cant keep your girl turned boy because of ordinances.

Yeah.. I don't think most hatcherys sex their bantams. Do you know what hatchery your TSC store gets them from?

what is the source of the one on the left? if it is from a hatchery then it will be lavender (self blue) only a few people like me breed for blue, hatcheries dont bother. i would compare it to mine but they are so young i cant tell what they will look like at that age, this is my first time breeding blues and splashes.

I know the one on the right is a porcelain but the one on the left was from tsc and it is more blue than the porcelains

i got some porcelain from TSC and hatched some from SQ stock and the SQ stock are more yellow then the TSC so the amount of yellow/blue ratio doesnt always mean porcelain or not. If the left one is anything but all blue visually it is not a self blue. This is a good large high detail pic of a self blue chick https://www.flickr.com/photos/thebigwranch12/779643237/
