D'uccle Thread

Ok sorry my phone was dieing and I was typing fast and didn't spell check.

Ok what I was saying or asking was, what I had stated earlier about what I read about paints having a solid color feather down to the shaft vs. Splash having 2 different colors on feather.... Could this be true for a different breed like silkie, or is this not true at all
problem is how can we know? i dont know of another breed other than silkie that has paint. but on my true paint silkies (paint dad, black mom) i do have a few that have partial feathers--but is that then a latent splash development ON TOP of the paint??(dont know dads lineage but mom was hatchery stock black) the only thing i know that a paint has but not a splash --and can only be in silkies because of their black skin-is the white 'holes' spots in their skin that can be seen for only a while since the melanin migrates later and fills them in--or it may be the other way around, i had a showgirl that had extremely different skin mosaic as well as a dark spot on her flank skin, by the time she was 3 months old she had solid black skin, and interestingly the black flank skin spot did not translate to a black feather patch.

Picked up 6 bantams from Tsc, they don't know what they are... I'm thinking buff silkies and golden neck d'uccle.. My 4h friend thinks white cochin and buff or red cochin. The white have hock feathers and the buff have gray green beaks and feet... I should count toes. What do you guys think? The tsc said their pullet bantams.....lmao.

Any ideas on what the one on the left is I am thinking self blue the one on the right is a porcelain
The one on the right looks like it has to much yellow to be a porcelain but that might be the lighting. The left one looks like it has a yellow head, blue body so i would say it is a porcelain. Maybe closer pics one at a time? That pic is really hard to tell for sure, distance and lighting.

If the left one is all blue all over it is self-blue if not ...then not self blue lol

what is the source of the one on the left? if it is from a hatchery then it will be lavender (self blue) only a few people like me breed for blue, hatcheries dont bother. i would compare it to mine but they are so young i cant tell what they will look like at that age, this is my first time breeding blues and splashes.

did some boob at tsc actually say they were pullets?, that is low and at best ignorant. only one place i know sexes bantams and they charge 10$ for a pullet. an woe be to the poor consumer who buys based on that data and later finds out they have 50% roosters they have to find homes for.
