problem is how can we know? i dont know of another breed other than silkie that has paint. but on my true paint silkies (paint dad, black mom) i do have a few that have partial feathers--but is that then a latent splash development ON TOP of the paint??(dont know dads lineage but mom was hatchery stock black) the only thing i know that a paint has but not a splash --and can only be in silkies because of their black skin-is the white 'holes' spots in their skin that can be seen for only a while since the melanin migrates later and fills them in--or it may be the other way around, i had a showgirl that had extremely different skin mosaic as well as a dark spot on her flank skin, by the time she was 3 months old she had solid black skin, and interestingly the black flank skin spot did not translate to a black feather patch.Ok sorry my phone was dieing and I was typing fast and didn't spell check.
Ok what I was saying or asking was, what I had stated earlier about what I read about paints having a solid color feather down to the shaft vs. Splash having 2 different colors on feather.... Could this be true for a different breed like silkie, or is this not true at all
